Michael Neidorff
Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer, Centene Corporation;
Board Member, National Urban League
Michael Neidorff has been an active member of the National Urban League Board of Trustees since 2010. He previously served as Board Chair from 2014-2019. A widely recognized healthcare executive, Mr. Neidorff is the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Centene Corporation, the #1 insurer in the U.S. Health Insurance Marketplace. He has successfully managed the development and implementation of Centene’s Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial managed care programs, growing the company to more than 23 million members across all 50 states and several international markets.
Mr. Neidorff joined Centene as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1996. He became Chairman in 2004. Under his expert direction Centene has transformed from a closely held $40 million corporation into a publicly traded multi-national healthcare enterprise with revenues exceeding $110 billion in 2020. Although the company’s reach now extends internationally with nearly 70,000 employees throughout the U.S. and beyond, Mr. Neidorff remains dedicated to upholding Centene’s core philosophy: that healthcare is best delivered locally. Mr. Neidorff’s local approach to healthcare has allowed the company to continue to provide cost-effective coverage solutions to the people who need it most: the uninsured and under-insured. It has also allowed Centene to partner with other healthcare and commercial organizations to provide additional specialty services to its members, such as behavioral health management, telehealth and in-home health services.
In addition to his duties as a board member for the National Urban League, Mr. Neidorff serves as Chairman of the Board at Trinity University, his alma mater. He dedicates much of his time to civic organizations in St. Louis, including the Greater St. Louis Boy Scouts of America and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He was inducted into the city’s Junior Achievement Hall of Fame in 2014. Mr. Neidorff serves as Treasurer of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees and is a member of the International Committee on the Arts. He was named Businessperson of the Year by Fortune in 2017.
